- Heart Health Awareness (Wednesday, February 3rd): 1 in 3 Americans suffer from cardiovascular disease, which can make wounds harder to heal. This presentation will help raise awareness about venous and arterial wounds during Heart Health Month. Topics will include arterial wounds, venous insufficiency wounds, risk factors and treatment options.
- Wound Care Awareness (Wednesday, May 5th): Almost 7 million people in the United States are living with chronic wounds due to the lack of awareness of advanced wound care. The vast majority of people do not receive the treatment they need and deserve. This presentation is dedicated to raising awareness of advanced wound care and its benefits to every patient living with chronic, non-healing wounds. Topics will include the five most common wound types, risk factors and treatment options.
- Peripheral Arterial Disease Awareness (Wednesday, September 1st): This presentation will focus on bringing awareness to Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) and its impact to chronic wounds. Approximately 8 to 12 million people in the United States are affected, and one of the main comorbidities of diabetes is the risk for chronic, non-healing wounds of the lower extremities. People who are living with PAD, often do not recognize the risk of amputation that comes with the disease. A small wound can have catastrophic effects in patients. Topics in this presentation will include risk factors, symptoms, diagnosis and treatment.
- Diabetes Awareness (Wednesday, October 6th): This presentation will help to raise awareness about how Diabetes affects chronic wounds. Approximately 50% of our patients are living with diabetes, and 25% of wounds treated are diabetic foot ulcers. We know that 1 in 4 people diagnosed with diabetes suffer from foot ulcers. Topics will include understanding changes in the skin related, understand risk factors for wound development, understand basic foot care and skin care, identify skin care do’s and don’ts and early detection and intervention.
